South Lyon Cycle Racing Team Race Reports
Weekend Racing Report - November 18, 2007
Tailwind Munson Park Cyclocross - Monroe, MI
The team continued what seems to be the “UN-ENDING” 2007 season by putting in a great showing at the Tailwind Munson Park CX race in Monroe. Racing for the team were Tony & Dominic Wieczorek, Doug Gatto, Jason Brake and James Knight. Additionally, Joe Lekovish did all the race announcing.
The race is held in a park on what is a very famous battleground from the War of 1812. Nearly 200 years ago American soldiers battled the British in what was know as “The Battle of Frenchtown” as well as The River Raisin Massacre. While no one was massacred today, many racers did suffer with temps in the high 30F’s and winds gusting up to 25mph.
After making the podium on both Saturday and Sunday (3rd & 2nd) at the US Grand Prix of Cyclocross in Louisville, Jr team member Tony Wieczorek has been steadily improving his race placings in preparation for the upcoming US Cyclocross National Championships in Kansas City
Today, racing in the super competitive B-Men’s Category (USA Cycling Category 2 & 3), everything came together and Tony raced an aggressive, attacking, race to take the win, ahead of a field of older and more experienced racers.
