Well, the weekend was great. Great courses, the races were really
fun and watching the races were fun too.
On Saturday we got there at 7:30, it was dark and cold, the course
was muddy in some sections, and really nice in others. A really cool
area was the fly over they had. It was pretty cool to race, and have a
obstacle like that. In my race there was about 7 to 10 riders in the 15-
16 category. Right when the officials said go some of these kids took
off like a rocket! I can usually sprint good in our races in the B's,
but these kids were twice as fast as that. I ended up catching them at
the first set of barriers. I just stayed with them, all of us took
turns crashing. The three of us turned into two of us. Then I lost it
in the sand and the other kid just kept going. In the end I got 2nd
place. I'm pretty happy with that effort. The podium was really cool,
they have these two crank-brothers tents, and one of them they put the
riders, and in the other, they have the trophies. It was really cool,
seeing the announcer on T.V., and then he's announcing your name to go
on the podium in front of a big crowd, and getting a trophy! A clif-bar
rider in my race broke his chain in the sprint, and had to run to the
pit. He was probably the favorite to win, but with that mishap it lost
him the race.

On Sunday, it was a little weird. The third place winner yesterday,
was now blowing me and the winner away. We just couldn't stay on his
wheel. The clif bar rider was in the lead, in second was the third
place rider yesterday, and Matt(got 1st on Saturday)and me were
fighting it out for third. There was this muddy barrier section where I
dropped my chain, then Matt just opended up a gap on me. I was able to
pedal the chain back-on, and I just killed to get back up there. Over
the fly-over, I was catching him, and on the road I shifted to the big
chain ring and just cranked it, and got back with him. While we were
fighting it out some more, there was this muddy section where you go
straight down, with 2 feet of sidewalk and then 180 turn back up the
muddy hill, and on the way down Matt crashed. I saw that door, and I
kicked it open. I hammered up it and had a 15 second gap on him,and 10
seconds in cx is like a minute gap on the road. I still had a lap and a
half left. My body was telling me to stop, and let me recover, but I
knew if I crash, I could lose my 3rd place. I dug so deep in those last
laps my stomach and my head were killing. Once I got over the fly-over
I had it in the bag and got 3rd place!! I was really happy to be on the
podium with the clif bar rider(TIAA Cref/5280)and having my name said
on the podium again, and getting another trophy!! I would write more
but that would take 10 more minutes. Oh Yeah, the 17-18 year olds are
monsters!! Almost all of the top 10 kids would win our A races, hands
down!! I'll be there next year:-) I'll try to send you guys some
pictures later.
See ya!
