A Mid-year Update!!!

Wow!

Time has sure flown by and here we are at ½ of the way through 2007! Already it’s been a fantastic year. Seriously, the team could all just put down their bikes and you could call the season a success right now!

The team has been throughout Michigan racing like demons. Already we’ve brought home FIVE state titles! Additionally, the team promoted and organized two of the biggest races in Michigan to date, the Tour of Kensington Valley Stage Race (2 days / 3 stages) and the Midwest Cycling Group Allen Park Criterum.

It’s been a lot of fun so far. The team has represented all of our sponsors well and served as a great development vehicle for the Junior and Category 3 riders to advance.

Both Taylor Birmann and Tony Wieczorek were able to attend the USA Cycling Midwest Region Development Camp. Taylor finished 2nd in the standings for the camp and has been selected to attend the Tour De l’Avenir stage race in Quebec for 15-16 year olds. Additonally, Taylor made the short list to attend the National Juniors Development Camp in August. He’s got his fingers crossed that he’ll be awarded that opportunity as well.

As we look forward to the remainder of the season, there’s some big things ahead:

  • - Common Criterium in Lansing MI with an appearance by the Governor, July 15th
  • - The Maillot Jaune Road Race in Fenton, with a former Tour De France winner as guest starter, July 21st
  • - A jam-packed August with racing every weekend, including some trips to Indiana, Illinios and Ohio
  • - The $20k Priority Health Classic in Grand Rapids, Sept 8th
  • - The Tour De Leelanau US Pro Tour Road Race, Sept 15th
  • - The Michigan “DOUBLE-CROSS” UCI Cyclocross weekend, with an appearance by Jonathan Page, 2007 CX World Championships silver medalist, Sept 22nd/23rd
