The new BLUE RC.5-AL team bikes have arrived.
For 2006 the team will be racing on the BLUE RC.5-AL for the first 1/2 of the season. These are BLUE's top of the line AL/Carbon racing bikes. Outfitted with Ritchey Protocol wheels and Maxxis Courchevel tires, Ritchey stem, bars and post and Shimano Dura-Ace drive train, this bike tops the scales at 16.3 pounds.
Later in the season the team will be racing BLUE's top of the line, full carbon, RC.6 bikes. Check them out at any Michigan and Midwest race this season!
SUNBURNT!
Vince Roberge was fortunate enough to take off to sunny Arizona for a little racing and training. While there Vince raced in the Valley of the Sun stage race in Phoenix. The weather was great, sunny and 70F, not -5F, like in Michigan. Vince placed a respectable 58TH in a field dominated by riders from CA, AZ, NM and CO, where the winters are a little more, shall we say, MILD!!!
SNOWEDOUT!
Nine members of the team traveled down to race at the famous (infamous?) Schabobele Road Race in scenic California, Kentucky, only to have the area struck by a freak snowstorm. Temperatures fell over 20F overnight and up to 4" of snow fell in a 3 hour period. Down in Kentucky they call snow storms "the white death" for a reason, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY SNOWPLOWS! So, a storm that would be shaken off by 10am in Michigan ended up closing I-75 for several hours and paralyzing the whole region.
Everyone was disappointed, especially after taking a recon ride on the course Friday afternoon. With a mix of short, punchy climbs, fast descents, and rollers right out of Cedar Point, the course promised to be a hair-raiser to race. Maybe next year.
Thats the news for now. I'll see you ON THE ROAD!!!
